She was extremely angry with Uncle Robin for not letting her go to the dance at the Autumn Fair in town. She had recently met a boy that she'd liked named Ethan at school, and he had asked her to the dance. Of course, as usual, she wasn't allowed to take part in any social events.
"I bet I wouldn't even be allowed at school if it wasn't absolutely necessary!" she screamed down the stairs right before stomping into her room and slamming the door.
She stopped, turned and stared at the door. She did slam that, right? Her brow furrowed and she shook her head. She was just upset and imagining that the door had slammed on its own. She flopped down on her bed and fumed. She was so angry. It was so unfair that she never got to have any fun.
She started to cry and wished the tissues were closer. She hated being teary-eyed and snotty. She wiped her eyes with the back of her sleeve and looked up. The box of tissues was on its side right next to her on the bed. She grabbed a tissue and looked around the room. She was all alone.
She was starting to put everything together in her head, yet she hoped she was just imagining it all. She looked at the box of tissues and thought about it being back in its place on her dresser across the larger-than-normal bedroom. It lifted into the air and started floating across the room. She screamed and it dropped.
Her uncle swung the door wide just as she screamed and the box fell. He let out a deep sigh and knew it was finally time to have the talk with her about not using her powers.
"Uncle Robin? Why am I not allowed to use my..." she lifted a curious brow before continuing. "powers?"
"Well, hell" cursed as he rubbed his palm down his face and mumbled "not only are you telekinetic, you're telepathic too. Far more than I'd expected. Sit down, Emily dear. We have a lot to discuss."
