The me you see is much more tame than the me that was created in 1445. You'll understand soon why I say created...
I think that, after nearly 600 years, I have come to understand why I became so vicious and heartless when she turned me. Honestly, I believe only a small part of that was due to being a newborn vampire.
Meeting Sunshine
My parents had died less than two weeks ago, and my family's landlord was saying my sister and I had to leave. We had nowhere to go, and no family, save one another. I was 20 years old, and had no idea what skills were needed for a job. Our parents, Anya and Dmitri Novosi, never let Nataschia and I want for anything. We may have been destitute, but us kids didn't know it until we had to face everything on our own. Part of me was angry for that. They didn't prepare us for anything. We were taught the basics of writing and math by our mother. Other than that, we knew how to cook, sew and clean. Cleaning was easier said than done with barely any water available. We had to walk to the creek with a bucket that leaked.
I went out to sit on the front steps, resting my chin on my skinned, dirty knees. I was mad at myself for not insisting to learn more. How would we survive? Would someone be kind enough to take us in as servants? I wouldn't even care if they paid us. I just wanted to make sure we were housed, clothed and fed. As if on cue, hunger pains wracked my body. I fell on my side, curling up into a ball and crying out. We hadn't eaten in 4 days. I knew Nataschia had to be feeling worse. She was 7 years younger than I, and she was already far thinner. Holding my sides, waiting for the severe pains to pass, I rocked slowly. When I finally was able to open my eyes, I looked right at a pair of gorgeous legs and the most beautiful shoes you could have imagined. As my eyes scanned upward, I saw a amazing woman standing before me. What she was doing in my derelict neighborhood, I have no clue to this day. She stared into my eyes, like she was searching for something. Then she snapped her fingers and told me to stand.
I stood slowly, back straight and chin high. Thats when she let out a laugh. I looked at her, confused, and asked her what was so funny. She told me I should be scared. After everything I'd been through, nothing she could do or say to me would scare me, and I told her as much. Even when she opened her mouth, showing me her fangs, I just shrugged. She put her arm around my shoulders and told me to walk with her. After talking for a while, she agreed to take Nataschia and I in and give us everything we needed. I asked her why she was being so kind and she just shook her head.
